The FIFA 18 Ligue 1 wonderkid XI

Nov 14,2017

While everyone knows that Kylian Mbappé is excellent, there are other young stars playing in France that will cost only a fraction of the teenager’s asking price. We've found the French top division for promising players aged 21 or under, who are likely to continue doing great things and available to buy in the first transfer window of FIFA 18’s Career Mode.

Like all our Wonderkid XIs, you will not find any players here who we have featured before, and the transfer fee quoted are the ones we negotiated with the selling clubs, but you may be able to get them to part ways with their players for less by adding in sell-on clauses, or just driving a harder bargain.

GK: Alban Lafont (Toulouse) - The 18-year-old goalkeeper is one of the most promising goalkeepers in FIFA 18, he is likely to reach 89 overall with the right training and game time. Offering Toulouse € 15 million, you will have a first-choice goalkeeper for many years to come.

CB: Malang Sarr (OGC Nice) - At the age of 18, Malang Sarr has shown signs of becoming a complete package. The high seventies for standing tackles, strength and jumping, plus 80 for stamina make him a powerful presence in the centre of your defence.

CB: Issa Diop (Toulouse) - Diop, the 1.93m tall man, has 75 for jumping and 72 for heading accuracy. It is worthy to spend €14m for the 20-year-old if you can get him reach his potential of 88 overall.

CB: Joris Gnagnon (Stade Rennais) - Joris Gnagnon is another defensive powerhouse. He’ll cost you €15m with 87 for strength, 79 for standing tackles and the Power Header trait.

LM: Houssem Aouar (Lyon) - Aouar’s potential has already risen by four points since FIFA 18 was released. He could hit 87 if he continues showing such promise and he’ll only cost you about €5m.

CM: Vincent Koziello (OGC Nice) -  You can get an aggressive, tenacious midfield player with €10.5m. He also has the poise and composure to start attacks as soon as he’s won the ball back.

CM: Lucas Tousart (Lyon) - With 86 for aggression, 82 for strength, 81 for standing tackles and 78 for interceptions, he’s like a brick wall in boots. The 20-year-old is so good defensively he can even step in as an emergency centre back if necessary, with 81 for jumping and 83 for stamina.

RM: Ludovic Blas (EA Guingamp) - Guingamp will drive a hard bargain and demand around €9m for the 19-year-old but that’s pretty good for someone with the potential to reach 84 overall.

LW: Marcus Coco (EA Guingamp) - Marcus Coco was slightly downgraded in FIFA 18, but he still got 82 potential and all the skills necessary to do damage down the left flank. Waving €14m you can get a chance to talk to the 21-year-old winger.

ST: Corentin Jean (Toulouse) - His 76 for finishing is higher than most young strikers, and he also got 79 for shot power, 72 for volleys and 77 for positioning. Combined with his pace and agility that makes the 21-year-old a danger running in behind any defence. Treat him well and he could hit 86 overall.

RW: Malcom (Bordeaux) - It will cost you €30m to get a player who’s already rated 81 overall, with the potential to rise to 88. The 20-year-old winger is a skilled dribbler with a fierce shot on him and a dangerous free-kick.
