Isn't Messi in the FIFA Best Player Award?

Nov 29,2016

Brazil coach Tite has revealed that Messi did not even get into the top three in the FIFA Player of the Year award.

The FIFA World Player of the Year has been renamed again after the management of the World Soccer finalized their cooperation with the French footballer Ballon d'Or.

Portugal and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo won the Brazilian Coach of the Year Award for the highest vote, Neymar second and France's Anthony Grizmann in third.

"Messi is the best in the world, but in the past season the best is Cristiano Ronaldo," Tite told Estado de Sao Paulo.

"In the past year of their conquest, Cristiano is better. The second is Nei Maer, the third is Glezman.

"I left Messi out because he was injured a lot.Cristiano is direct and powerful, and has the goal of obsession.

This year's FIFA Best Player Award will be split. Country captains and coaches from around the world voted three, which will account for 50% of the vote.

The second half will be voted online and selected from more than 200 media representatives.

Last year, Nemar finished third, behind winner Messi and second-place Cristiano. Ronaldinho was the last Brazilian to win the highest individual award, claiming to be FIFA World Best Player in 2004 and 2005.
