FIFA 17: Let's Pray For The Chapecoense Club Members Who Died in The Air Crash

Dec 01,2016

Chapecoense (formally called Associação Chapecoense de Futebol) was a small club that had returned to Brazil's top flight of soccer in 2014, for the first time since 1979. Their rise from the nation's third division to the finals of a continental championship was widely celebrated by Brazilians as a classic underdog's triumph.

But after they celebrated their big success last week, a disaster came to them! Almost all members but three of Brazil's Chapecoense soccer team were killed in a plane crash earlier this week, while on their way to play a match in Colombia, which willl be the biggest match in club history. Only three players survived. But one of them, the goalkeeper Jakson Follmann, had a leg amputated. Following which Brazil declared three days of national mourning for them.

As a response to the tragedy, EA is now giving all FIFA 17 Ultimate Team players the kit and badge of Chapecoense so they can pay their own tribute to the club in-game.
FIFA 17 is encouraging all players to wear the Chapecoense kit and crest in-game as a show of sympathy and support.

FIFA 17's message is as follows:

It's a small gesture, but giving fans the ability to show their support is admirable. Atletico Nacional, the team that Chapecoense was meant to play in the finals of the Copa Sudamericana tournament, offered to concede a draw to allow Chapecoense to be awarded the Copa Sudamericana championship and asked South America's governing body to award the title to the Brazilian team "in posthumous homage to the victims of the tragic accident." Brazil's Serie A clubs have offered to loan players for free to Chapecoense, and have asked Brazil's Football Association to exempt Chapecoense from relegation for the next three years.

We are so sorry to hear the disaster and we will praying for all the victims and their families! Wish To the deceased rest in peace, living strong!
