FIFA 17 gaming matches will be broadcast live on TV, BT Sports Broadcasting announced that had won the rights to show the remaining four EA FIFA Majors in this year’s Ultimate Team Championship Series  in April and May in an exclusive deal with Electronic Arts.

“This is yet another example of live innovation from BT Sport," said Simon Green, head of BT Sport. "Competitive interactive football gaming is a rapidly growing industry and I’m delighted that BT Sport is now able to showcase it for the first time ever in the UK.”

The senior vice president and general manager of the Competitive Gaming Division, EA, Todd Sitrin said, “There’s a profound opportunity for competitive gaming to achieve mainstream success and the key to accomplishing this is accessibility."

"We are very pleased to be working with BT Sport to make exciting games for EA Sports Fifa (UK's most popular video game), and we are driving the industry around the world."

Participants of the Ultimate Team Championship will participate in the Xbox One and PlayStation4 consoles, earning £ 130,000 for this year's series and £ 65,000 for the runner-up.

The remaining part of the EA Fifa professional team will begin on April 8, with the North American regional final will be held on April 22 in the Asia Pacific finals, and May 6 in Madrid, Asia Pacific finals, as well as the FIFA finals in Berlin in May 20 - 21.

In recent years, competitive games have attracted more and more online viewing numbers, and many of the world's games are now being sold out of the fields.

Some football clubs, including Manchester City and West Ham United, even have their own official gaming players.

Richard Scudamore, executive director of the Premier League, believes that betting is the biggest threat to keeping young people involved in the sport.
